Queanbeyan Anglers

The Queanbeyan Anglers Club (QAC) is made up of a group of like minded anglers who are focused on stocking and access of the local waters. We have a long and rich past that stretches back almost sixty years. The club is made up of a wide range of anglers from all walks of life and our membership numbers have been up to thirty five from the local area. We are one of the sixteen clubs that make up the Monaro Acclimatization Society (MAS) and through MAS we secure fish for our local public waterways. QAC also has affiliation with the NSW Council of Freshwater Anglers. We are active in protecting anglers’ rights and the environment and have been successful in lobbying the Government on anglers' behalf to ensure access and stocking continues. Although we mainly stock trout we have also stocked native fish in the lower Queanbeyan River.

QAC have been active in tackling major issues facing local anglers, some of which are:

-the Muzzelwood Clubmed project
-the proposed closure of Gaden Hatchery
-the removal of the fish trap for brown trout on the Eucumbene River

-access closure of Foresters Lane to the Thredbo River
-closure of access to Lake Meroo
-the introduction of rainbow trout and continued stocking of the Jerrabomberra storm water retention basin

-working with other angling organisations for the benefit all anglers

Monthly meeting are held at 8 p.m. at the Queanbeyan Roo's Club on the first Wednesday of each month and our AGM and Dinner is the first Wednesday of August. Meeting are well attended and are always social and informative, with the opportunity to talk fishing with some of the most experienced anglers in our area. Some of our members have represented Australia at world championship level.
